To play, spielen, jouer... In many languages the same word is used to describe the actor's work and the children's game!

Animazione Teatrale (Creative Dramatics)

Periodically, from different countries of the world, they come proposals for the education of children based on the inductive method, that promise to radically change the world of instruction, which from time immemorial, and so less and less convincing, is based on the transmission of knowledge from teacher to students.

At the turn of the Sixties and Seventies of last century, albeit in a non-systematic way, the Italian movement of Animazione Teatrale had shown how, starting from the body and sensory experience, children can face as protagonists virtually all of the fields of knowledge, naturally and with great effectiveness.

Historically, it lacked the conviction on the part of the protagonists of that first season, coming mainly from the theatre, such as poor or insufficient it was the attention of official pedagogy.

However, the popose remains quite relevant today, as evidenced by the myriad of experiences, so sometimes underground and creeping, which have been carried on since then in the school and not only, in the wake of some of the principles advocated by that overlooked, or forgotten movement : at school with the body, free expression, research and action, to which over the years we felt to add: watch and imagine. For an education based on the experience of people, collaboration and use of the resources of each, for a learning that is also production of knowledge

"Playing with the music and the theatre is accepting to know only the starting point, without knowing what will be the point of arrival, and thus constantly changing roads, play, methodologies (...) We know (...) that educating to imperfection, to think, to change, it shapes that skill of adaptation and survival, it develops that creative intelligence, which are essential to know how to constantly reinvent again and again".

The "animazione teatrale"  is the basis of every activity centred on whole persons and their ability to express themselves and communicate: their own bodies, the others, the invention starting from the personal resources of each, not in order to "perform" but to grow together. And the " child culture" shows itself, unexpectedly, through the play.
